California Nutmeg (Torreya californica)We were able to purchase some rare California Nutmeg logs as part of a fund raiser event for the California Logging Conference. This tree grows in a very limited area in the Coast Ranges from Mendocino to Monterey Counties, and along the western flank of the High Sierra Mountains. Its seed resembles that of the true spice nutmeg, but it is entirely unrelated botanically.
The wood is a beautiful golden cream color, and we currently have some large slabs, as well as smaller boards drying.
Koa Plywood
We
found this small batch of 3/4" and 1/4" Koa plywood with some
extraordinary figure. The faces on the 3/4" panels are truly amazing.
The 3/4" backs and both sides of the 1/4" pieces are also very nice.
We currently have 3 sheets of the 1/4" at $300 each, and 2 sheets of the 3/4" at $435 each.
Claro Walnut Root Slabs
We have a great selection of 3" thick Claro Walnut slabs. These came from a Trinity river homestead, a windfall caused harvest.
